Dr.Prasanna Illankoon

Dr Prasanna Illankoon is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Management of Technology, as well as the Director of the Business Research Unit of the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Dr Illankoon also serves as a visiting lecturer for undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and a research supervisor in a number of local and foreign Universities including the University of Peradeniya, University of Kelaniya, University of Vocational Technology, and Luleå University of Technology, Sweden. Dr Illankoon carries 15 years of industrial experience in Productivity Management, Quality Assurance, and Industrial Engineering. His work spans companies of varying scales, from Small and Medium Enterprises to Multinational Organizations. Dr Illankoon is a certified coach for Enterprise LeanSigma as well as a certified TPM practitioner. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Production Engineering from the University of Peradeniya and an MBA in Management of Technology, from the University of Moratuwa. Dr Illankoon obtained his PhD in Operation and Maintenance Engineering for his thesis “Soft Issues of Industry 4.0: A Study on Human-Machine Interactions”, from the University of Luleå, Sweden. Dr Illankoon’s current research focuses on the Human-Technology collaboration. He has published over twenty scientific articles, and he also serves as an associate editor for two international journals.
